Vancouver Children's Festival needs volunteers

Key Positions for Volunteers

Great positions are available at the Festival for students interested in future careers in Arts Administration, Event Management, Business/Sales, Tourism, Early Childhood Development and other areas!

We need Coordinators' Assistants in the following activities helping with set-up, supplies, line-ups and dealing with volunteers, school groups & public:

Hands-on Activities      All Week (May 27 – June 2)

1)            Umoja Africa                                        (African culture pavilion)

2)            Cirq-O-Rama                                        (juggling, diabolo, rhythm sticks, hula hoop and stilt walking)

3)            Magical Mystery Maze                        (magic natural maze)

4)            Musical Playground                            (musical experience area)

5)            Hai! Origami!                                        (learning traditional origami)

6)            Squishy Circuits                                   (electricity experience with play dough)

7)            Shadow Play                                        (experiencing shadow puppetry)

8)            Sock it to Me!                                        (creating socket puppets)

9)            Bicycle Spin Arts                                  (spin art painting while riding a bike)             

10)          Twist and Toddle                                 (ages 1-5 little kids’ activities area)

11)          Entwined                                               (weaving sculpture – Year of the Snake)

12)          Face Painting                                       (painting children’s faces)

Hands-on Activities      Partial Week

13)          Me on the Map (June 1 - 2)               (multi-media installation performance)

We also need Assistants in these Key Areas:

Arts Admin, Tourism & Sales 

All Week (May 27 – June 2)

1)            Festival Shop                                       (Sales Assistant)

2)            CD Sales                                               (Coordinate Artists' CD & Merchandise Sales)

3)            Admin Desk                                          (Receptionist)

4)            Accounting                                            (Festival Controller's Assistant)

5)            Activity Assistant                                  (Assist Activity Manager with signage & Activity Tent needs)

6)            Hospitality Assistant                            (Assisting with artist hospitality)

7)            Volunteers                                            (Assist Volunteer Coordinator)

8)            Info Booth                                             (Festival Information)

9)            Head Host(s)                                        (Hosts act as tour guides for school groups)

10)          Traffic                                                    (Work on team coordinating parking attendants or crossing guards) 

FrancoFun! Day (May 30)                          (French-speaking volunteers urgently needed)

Crew Support (May 20 - June 2)            (Assist Festival crew with security, performer services and set up)

Also needed: General Weekday Volunteers May 27–31 ~ 9:30 am to 3:30 pm (All Positions)
