Image result for mckids academyLooking for youth ages 15 yrs + to help us lead our educational gaming camps on the North Shore.

MCKids Academy is a one of the world’s first Minecraft gaming camp experiences launched  in 2012 right here in West Vancouver! We run camps from 4PM to 8PM (in most cases) weekly at several locations on the North Shore.

THE OPPORTUNITY
If you enjoy playing with and leading other kids, we want you! We run awesome Minecraft  educational gaming camps for children applying 21st C Learning and STEAM concepts in a fun, play-based, child-directed environment.

YOUR BACKGROUND
  • an excellent understanding of Minecraft (PC/MAC versions from 1.7.10 to 1.10) and have ‘played’ for a minimum of three years in both single-player and multi-player settings.
  • are tech savvy and know how to build your own Bukkit, Spigot or Sponge servers (public and/ or private).
  • are familiar with Essentials, WorldEdit, Worldguard, VoxelSniper, CoreProtect and other plugins.  know all about mods and modded play, programming with command blocks and using redstone to get the most out of map-making.
  • have a gaming mindset that reflects fair-play and are ready and willing to abide by our Admin/Players Code of Conduct (pro-vided upon application).

You will be asked to obtain a current Police Record Check and have had  previous experience supporting children ages 8-14 within Scouts, Girl Guides or other  community -based organizations. (Yes, babysitting counts!).

YOUR DUTIES
Admins will be needed to help set-up and take-down chairs, tables and other equipment before and after camps. During camp you will work with individual children helping maintain focus and interest (staying on-task) in the game and in the room. Some children may require spe-cial assistance, such as typing in commands and troubleshooting their computers. You should be available outside of camp times to assist (virtually) on our servers where needed.

EMAIL YOUR APPLICATION LETTER to info@minecampkids.com.  Include detailed info about your-self and your volunteer experience. Don’t sweat it! Make your letter sound fun and include your personal Minecraft XP in the mix. Include a few screenshots of your builds and machines!
