Teck Resources is offering a one week long Work Experience position during 
Spring Break, March 23-27, 2020.

Teck is a major Canadian mining company with head office in Vancouver and operations in many parts of North and South America that mine metallurgical coal, copper, zinc and oil sands.

The work experience position is for:
1 student as Administrative Assistant, , Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting (downtown Vancouver office). The ideal candidate for the Administrative Assistant position should be interested in Business Administration, Accounting and Finance fields. Through this placement, the student will develop an understanding of working in a professional environment, gain exposure to Teck’s daily business administration activities, data management strategies and how it is applied and implemented within Teck’s operations.

Our goal is to inspire, inform and encourage students to follow their medical dreams and head bravely into their future endeavors.

OMS was started by a group of high school students in Vancouver, BC in 2012. Each conference gives students a new approach to medical careers through activities and lectures by medical experts. It is the perfect chance for high school students to explore the medical field, meet peers who share the same passion, and speak with knowledgeable medical professionals.

OMS has been creating an opportunity for youth to gain valuable leadership and event management skills since it began in 2012 as a conference for high school students from high school students. As the organization has grown, each city conference continues to be organized by a team of local high school students.

In our new, hands-on information session format, learn about the Fire Fighting Technologies Certificate (FFTC) program and get a taste of firefighting by practicing some essential firefighting skills at one of Western Canada’s most extensive firefighting training facilities.

Cost to participate is $25.  

Minimum age to participate is 18. 

As the information session will involve some strenuous physical activity, participants are encouraged to bring their own water bottle and dress in appropriate active wear.

Stage Assistant, Runners and Show Office Assistant positions, this is where we really need help and students should be able to sign up with friends. The Feature Area is Ping Pong again this year so that is also a great area to be all day!

We are looking for an energetic, fun-loving and inspiring Hip Hop Instructor for pre-school and school age dance programs under the umbrella of North Vancouver Recreation and Culture Commission and West Vancouver Community Services. 

Classes are Thursdays after school and evenings. 
  
Key Responsibilities: Teaching children ages 4-12 yrs in Hip Hop/Street Dance genre by inspiring them and engaging their imagination.Preparing students for in-class, community and year-end performances.Committed to maintaining regular and punctual teaching schedule.Able to communicate with students' parents as to their child's progress.

Basic Qualifications: Performance, choreography and teaching experience is required.Emergency Childcare First Aid with CPR Level B or above is an asset. Must love working with children and parents. Must be 100% punctual and reliable.

ICanDance! has been providing performing arts programs for children on the North Shore for 18 years. 

Salary$20 - $30 per hour depending on experience.

Science World Volunteer Opportunity

We offer all Metro Vancouver students in Grades 11 and 12 the opportunity to gain valuable volunteer work experience at Science World. The placements are two full weeks (80 hours), and are aligned with the school-year calendar.
Work-term hours are 8:30am–5:30pm Monday through Friday and 9:15am–6:15pm on weekends and breaks.
Teachers are invited to sign up those students they feel would most/best benefit from a placement at Science World.

November 23–December 8
December 7–December 22

Scheduling

There are many two-week (80 hours) placement periods throughout the year, the first of which begins in September, following the school-year calendar. We can accommodate a maximum of 12 students during each placement period. All placements begin on the Saturday and continue until the third following Sunday. Days off are staggered so that there are five or six students in the building on any given day, including weekends and holidays.
Hours are 8:30am–5:30pm Monday–Friday and 9:15am–6:15pm weekends and holidays.

The registration process is on a first-come, first-served basis. Register your students as soon as possible, as placements fill up quickly.

 POSITION SUMMARY:
As part of our hourly Hospitality team, you will be providing premium level food and beer service to our club section guests during a busy event-time environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Providing exceptional first level service by running food and beverages to guests in our Club Seat Sections in between game time action
  • Other duties may be assigned as required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be able to work weeknights, weekends, and holidays with a start time of approximately 5:30pm
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 25 lbs
  • Must be able to stand during scheduled shift, withstand repetitive walking, reaching, and bending for long periods of time
  • Have an incredible ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-volume environment while maintaining a first-in-class hospitality and food and beverage experience
  • Strong communication skills, including listening skills and ability to communicate with guests and respond to inquiries
  • Proactively engage with fans in an effort to create a friendly and personal connection
  • Completion of Serving it Right Certificate
  • If you are a non-Canadian resident, you must hold a valid work or study permit that expires no earlier than April 2020
