Lynn Valley Care Centre - Volunteer

Lynn Valley Care Centre (intermediate and extended level of care Residents) have wonderful opportunities to offer students (16 years old and up), especially in the following areas:
  • Visiting and interacting with our Residents    
  • Giving wheelchair assistance to our Residents
  • Giving assistance at mealtimes
  • Tea & Coffee Service 
  • Doing “Security” – greeting Visitors, giving directions, keeping records, etc.
The Volunteer experience helps to develop responsibility, maturity, and a deeper understanding of some of the challenges faced by the elderly.  It is also a great way to acquire “Volunteer Hours” which are needed by many students for graduation.

VASS provides snow sports programs for people with disabilities at all three Vancouver mountains – Grouse, Seymour and Cypress. We welcome students of all ages and abilities and utilize adaptive equipment and specialized teaching techniques to maximize independence on the snow! To meet the needs of its members, VASS offers programs from beginner to advanced, including snowboarding, sit ski, stand up skiing and adaptive ski racing. All lessons are 100% coordinated and taught by volunteers.

North Vancouver Recreation & Culture provides a variety of volunteer opportunities for people of all ages. 
If you are looking to become involved in your community and have a positive and meaningful experience, consider volunteering! It is a great way to meet new people, gain valuable work experience, develop skills and have fun.
Our volunteers must be 14 years of age or older (for aquatics, volunteers must be at least 15 years and must have completed the Water Safety Instructor (WSI) course) and successfully complete the application process outline in the information letter.

Harvest Project - Volunteers



The work of Harvest Project depends on the generous volunteer efforts of individuals from across the North Shore. Bring your hands, heart and creative skills to your volunteering. Your contribution will change the lives of those visiting Harvest Project seeking a hand up.

Here are some of our volunteer roles:

  • CLOTHES FOR CHANGE THRIFT STORE ASSOCIATE – Sort incoming clothing, help with merchandising, assist clients and retail customers.
  • RECEPTION/TRIAGE – Welcome visitors and clients. Coordinate appointments.
  • KITCHEN ASSISTANT – Help prepare lunches for volunteers onsite.
  • GROCERY DEPOT/DRIVERS – Assist clients with their food hampers, restock shelves, deliver and pick up donations.
  • FUNDRAISING – Speak with business and community leaders to describe needs and impact of our programs
  • Special Event Volunteers (Short Term): A group from your organization can volunteer as a team to represent Harvest Project at a community event. Grow your team-spirit while you give back to your community.
We ask that volunteers commit to a weekly four-hour shift for a minimum of three months (exceptions can be made.)

Christmas Bureau

Would you like to join a committed group of people who ensure that our North Shore community takes care of its most vulnerable? Volunteer for the Christmas Bureau and help to ensure that everyone can celebrate the holiday season.

Volunteering with the Christmas Bureau is flexible and fun. No job is too big or too small – and you’ll have a direct impact on your community. You’ll also make new friends, feel the spirit of the holidays, and give back to the community you love. Program runs September through January.

CityFest Youth Ambassador

Become a CityFest Youth Ambassador and earn 40 to 100 volunteer hours by helping plan the largest youth festival in B.C.
Youth Ambassador interviews happen in January each year at the North Shore Alliance. There are up to 15 spots available. The committee meets twice monthly, leading up to the event (Thursdays, after school at North Shore Alliance), plus sub-committee meetings once or twice per month, for: skateboard & longboard, performing arts, visual arts, film, food & promo.
Youth Leadership Team members and youth workers will conduct brief interviews. Just show up and fill out an application when you arrive. If you cannot make it to the interviews, email the an application to Kyla Sattler at ksattler@nsnh.bc.ca.

CityFest - Volunteer

Volunteer at CityFest 

Want to get involved? Earn some volunteer hours? Have the best day ever? CityFest needs youth volunteers (ages 11-17) to help make this year's youth festival the best yet.
CityFest volunteers must be available 4 hours on the event day between 9am and 6pm, and attend a mandatory volunteer training session.
At this meeting, you will receive instructions about the day, training, and the safety plan. You will then sign up for the 4 mandatory hours of service at CityFEST, 2 of the hours must be at clean up at the end of the day, or set up at the start of the day. Then the other 2 hours can be done at some of the various options at the festival. BBQ booth, cotton candy booth, pizza sales booth, bubble soccer, etc.
You will receive confirmation of your volunteer hours with a minimum of 6 hours over the Thursday and Saturday. If any of you work longer hours on the day of the festival we will gladly sign off your hours of service.

Tree Lots (Seasonal)

Join the tradition and get into the spirit of the season, by helping Aunt Leah’s sell Christmas Trees. Volunteers are the backbone of this successful enterprise, which raises over $500,000 for local youth in care and moms & babies in need. Tree Lots will be open from November 21st to December 23rd, 2019. You can book a shift by yourself or with family and colleagues or help us distribute posters in your community. The Ferry Building Gallery is a community gallery run by the District of West Vancouver. Its success depends on a team of dedicated volunteers who share their time and talent to help us fulfil our mandate.
We strive to create an environment that allows our volunteers to give back to the community while developing their own skills, gaining valuable experience and finding personal fulfilment.

Wild Bird Trust - Volunteer
