 Interested in a career in emergency services such as police, fire,paramedics, search & rescue etc? Join the RCMP Beginner Emergency Sevices Team and gain insight into the work of first responders in our community.       See Ms Giraud NOW for an application. Ever wonder about the science behind how animals are trained?  How about how humans work with animals, like sea lions, raptors and dogs?  The Vancouver Aquarium invites you to dive into the inner workings of animal psychology and training.
Join us at this free event to learn what it takes to train animals and how you, too, can begin an exciting career in animal training!  This event is part of the Province of British Columbia’s Year of Science, and takes place on Wednesday, May 4th at 6 p.m.
Guest speakers include Nathan Harben (Senior Marine Mammal Trainer, Vancouver Aquarium), Gary Worley (Master Falconer, Radical Raptors), and Mary Chaloner-Blair (Owner and Head Trainer, A Capable Dog).  The evening will be moderated by Dr. Martin Haulena (Veterinarian, Vancouver Aquarium) and will include a live demonstration!

Canadian Red Cross First Aid Courses

Emergency Child Care First Aid & CPR/AED is a one-day course for parents and caregivers of children covering skills needed to recognize, prevent and respond to airway, breathing and circulation emergencies. The course covers first aid for respiratory and cardiac arrest, sudden medical emergencies, childhood illnesses, head and spine injuries, wound care and poisons.Courses: Saturday, April 16; Saturday, May 14; & Saturday, June 11, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm @ St. Stephen’s United Church, 7025 Granville Street & 54th Avenue in Vancouver. WEX 12A STUDENTS


All WEX students who have not yet completed WORKSAFE  with Mr Mikkers

MUST attend a meeting Weds at Lunch in Rm B 102- the drafting rm.  (March 30)

You MUST complete WORKSAFE to get the credits for WEX - it is part of the course.
If you volunteered at Grouse or Cypress or elsewhere and did not do worksafe then you need to be at this meeting.
If you have registered for Work experience for next year then you can do WORKSAFE now and get started!!

Do NOT come to the meeting if:
- you are in WEX 12B    - you did worksafe last semester and passed the test.     -you are in COOP or Explorer

If you didn't pass the test or didn't do it then you need to see Mr Mikkers asap and get it done.

ALL Work Experience HOURS and RED Folders must be completed and in to be marked by MAY 31 if you want a grade this semester.
If you are in Grade 10 or 11 you can complete your hours next year.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive training program for community youth leaders. Young people chosen for their leadership potential attend an all-expenses-paid seminar to discuss leadership skills and to hone those skills through practice.
