No experience is needed, they will be properly trained, and wages will start at $15.00 an hour plus tips.

Science World - Winter Break Work Experience

Dec 17th - Jan 1st

 

Two spots have opened up for  the Winter Break work experience placement at Science World. 

 

Requirements:  

• Students must be able to attend the training on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 9am – 6pm
• Students must be able to complete 80 volunteer hours (10 days, including the training day) within the 2-week period (Dec. 17 – Jan. 1)
• Students are welcome to choose which days they would like to work, keeping in mind: All shifts are 9:15am – 6:15pm, with the following exceptions:

 

-Training day (Dec. 17): 9am – 6pm, Shifts end early on holiday “eves” (Dec. 24 & Dec. 31);

-shifts end at 3:15pm (we will still credit students for full 8 hours, though they only work 5 - not including their one-hour lunch break)

-Shifts start late on holiday “days” (Dec. 26 & Jan. 1);

-shifts start at 11:30am (we will still credit students for full 8 hours, though they only work 5.75 - not including their one-hour lunch break)

-Science World is closed to the public on Christmas Day (Dec. 25)

City Library - Read Along Program Volunteers

January 18th - March 1st, 2017

The North Vancouver City library looking for some reliable teens to be part of Read Along team.  It is a great volunteer opportunity for teens who like to work with younger kids .

Our Winter 2017 session begins on Wednesday, January 18 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm with tutor training.  This training is mandatory for all Read Along volunteers even if they have volunteered with us before.  Following training, Read Along meets on six Wednesdays.


Volunteers work from 4:00 to 5:00pm, which gives 15 minutes to reunite children with their parents / caregivers and tidy up.

If teens are interested in volunteering for Read Along, they must be able to commit to all seven weeks of the program.  The program is only as successful as its volunteers - your commitment is essential for the success of the program.

RCMP in BC Youth Advisory Committe - Now Recruiting

The RCMP in BC is looking for YOUth to join its YAC

(Youth Advisory Committee).

Similar to the National RCMP Youth Advisory Committee (YAC), the RCMP in BC YAC will be a virtual Committee allowing any young person across the province to participate.

 

The YAC will be accessing a non-searchable Facebook page to communicate with the participants. Each month we will post youth, community, and police related questions/polls in order to get a better understanding of how youth perceive these issues, what changes they'd like to see, and what type of information and resources we should be providing to police officers, specifically officers in youth specific policing roles.
