Culinary Arts Program - Apply Now!

Trade Up to a Career While in High School


The Culinary Arts program covers theory and related information along with hands-on cooking practice in the following areas:


  • Baking and Desserts
  • Basic Kitchen Management
  • Food Costing
  • Meat and Poultry Cooking
  • Meat, Poultry, and Seafood Cutting
  • Seafood Preparation and Techniques
  • Stocks, Sauces, and Soups
  • Vegetable and Starches and Egg Cooking.

The program is held in a state-of-the-art professional kitchen at Carson Graham Secondary School.  On completion of the program, students receive a Certificate in Professional Cooking.

Science World - Work Experience

Spend 2 weeks at Science World to complete
Work Experience hours/credits
  • Students will be expected to complete 80 hours (10 days) in the two week period. 
  • Students are welcome to choose which days they would like to work
  • The training day is included in the weekend days
  • Students can choose any days to work
  • Students need only to work 4 weekdays (if they choose to work full days on Saturday & Sunday) during the 2 week period

City Park Stewards



Evergreen, the City of North Vancouver and local stewards are working together in your community through invasive removal and native plantings.

Upcoming Events:

April 2nd (Saturday) 9am-12pm:  Heywood Park

We will be working at the upper end of the park, just below the upper levels highway. Please park in the gravel parking lot at the intersection of Hamilton Ave and 21st St W (map). Our work site will be at the entrance to the trails at the Northwest corner of the soccer fields (marked as "MacKay Creek Greenbelt" on the map). 

What We'll Do
Help remove invasive plant species and learn about local ecology.
No experience required.

What To Bring
Weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy footwear and a water bottle

We Will Provide
Gloves, tools, drinking water and snacks.

Victoria Cook Culture - Kitchen Volunteers needed!

Victoria Cook Culture is facilitating cooking classes for the public.  The classes are led by some of Vancouver’s elite chefs and cook volunteers.

What to expect:
Volunteers help with set-up (must arrive 30 minutes before the class) and post-class clean-up. 

As a volunteer, you are essential to the successful operation of our classes. You can expect to stay busy throughout your shift, but you will have opportunities to get to know our chefs, learn some tricks of the trade, and have lots of fun

Classes:
Run for 3 hours, in total 4 1/2 shift
Weekdays - start at 6pm
Saturday and Sundays - start at 11am
Venue: 1230 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver
