Fall 2015
Tech Tutors is a library program that helps
adults explore the library’s digital resources and provides help with their
technology and computer-related questions.
Adults are matched with a teen volunteer for a one-to-one session,
during which they will explore whichever question or topic is of most interest.
The Library is looking for up to four Tech
Tutor Volunteers who:
- are in grades 10, 11, 12
- don’t need to be tech wizards, but are willing to explore a variety of questions
- are patient, supportive and willing engage and interact with adults and seniors
- can mentor, support and guide adults in learning digital skills, without taking over the activity
- are able to communicate clearly, effectively and courteously with adults, seniors, and library staff
- are able to keep schedules, notes & statistics; can work together on projects
Volunteers
must be able to commit to 18 hours over 9 weeks: Tuesdays, 3:30-5:30 pm, September 29 through November 24. This includes a training session. *Times may be negotiable if you can arrange to leave school
early every week or every second week*.
Volunteers will rely on library staff for training, supervision, emergency assistance and support. All volunteers must complete a criminal record check, and those who complete the 18 hours of volunteer work will receive written confirmation.
