The Vancouver Aquarium is currently recruiting 15 for our fall 2012 Work Experience Placement. As a work experience student, they will be working within a team of students and staff to create the ultimate visitor experience for all of our visitors this fall. Their days will be filled with fun and varied tasks and they will have the opportunity to engage, amaze and inspire thousands of guests of all ages and from all around the world!

·         Outgoing, enthusiastic and self-motivated
·         Students currently in Grade 10, 11 or 12.

Please Note: This is not an animal handling position.  Students will have limited contact with marine animals.

Artist for KIDS needs volunteers!!


Volunteer at Artist for Kids

We have a couple of upcoming events that we need volunteers for. Following are the details. If you can help with either please reply to this email. We greatly appreciate it.
1. September 26 6:30 to 9 pm
We are looking for 4 people to assist in serving appetizers at our patron/donor evening. Some experience in serving and food safe an asset but not a requirement. Attire should be white or black shirt and black pants.
2. October 13 10 am to 3 pm
Gallery Opening.
. We are still looking for several people to assist in various capacities. No training necessary. We are looking for people to direct our guests, assist at art activities, show people around the building and to hand out favours. If you are available for one of the following shifts, please let us know.

Volunteers needed for Village Fair Cates Park Aug 11/12

Come and join us for a fun filled weekend with 2 stages of live music, craft booths, face painters, food and much more.  Reconnect with people you haven't seen since you had a full head of hair and wore bell bottoms!  Many of our performers are "kids" returning to our old stomping grounds to rock once again!  So whether you were there for the original Village Faire or a first timer to Village Faire II - 2012, all our welcome! 

We are currently seeking volunteers for this event in the following positions:  tee shirt table/washroom attendants/silent auction/garbage detail/traffic& parking control/first aid station/volunteer organizers/volunteer food& beverage tent/staging.

Vancouver Opera WEX

Vancouver Opera Work Experience

This program delivers an intensive, up-close view of what goes into an opera production and is specifically designed for students contemplating a career in the performing arts. Six students in Grades 11 or 12 are selected for each production and are led through the process by a Vancouver Opera docent. The 10-day schedule includes attending staging rehearsals, going on a backstage tour, meeting various opera staff and performers and may include a wigs and make-up demo. The week concludes with the students attending the final dress rehearsal. There are four opportunities this year to participate:
This program takes place over a very intense 10-day period.
