VOLUNTEER TITLE:
Lead a Shoreline Cleanup
 
VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES:
The main way to get involved is to organize a local cleanup and sign up as a Site
Coordinator by searching for a cleanup location near you on the Lead a cleanup map:

As lead organizer for a cleanup, the Site Coordinator has the following responsibilities:
  • Selecting the date, time and location
  • Ensuring location is suitable for a cleanup
  • Providing basic cleanup supplies
  • Completing simple data cards that track amount and type of litter
  • Arranging waste disposal of litter collected

Take Our Kids To Work Day - Nov 6th

The Learning Partnership's annual
Take Our Kids to Work Day program

Launched in 1994, Take Our Kids to Work Day is the most recognized Career education event in Canada, with an estimated 200,000 students visiting workplaces every year on Take Our Kids to Work Day.


On Wednesday, November 6th, 2019, grade nine students across Canada will spend the day at work, job shadowing a parent, relative, friend or volunteer host.


What will students get out of the program?

  • Develop an appreciation for the importance of staying in school and getting a high school diploma and pursuing post-secondary studies
  • Gain exposure to the skills required in today’s workplaces.
  • Develop an appreciation for their parents’ roles in making a living and supporting their families.
  • Begin career discussions with adults about the work they do.
  • Gain a better understating of the complexity of career choices and the benefits of early exploration.
  • Explore a career options in practical way.

Mascot Volunteer opportunity - Vancouver Christmas Fair 2019

WE ARE SEEKING EXTRAORDINARY MASCOT VOLUNTEERS TO JOIN OUR TEAM FOR THE 2019 CHRISTMAS SEASON! 

Take part in an authentic German Christmas Market while gaining valuable volunteer and performing experience this holiday season. Were building a roster of outgoing performers to act as Holly & Jolly, and their handlers at the Vancouver Christmas Market and the special events we attend. A variation of shifts are available from November 19-December 24, weekday, evening, and weekends. 

YOUR SKILLS: Experience in a mascot costume considered an asset but not necessary, Theater or dance experience, and being comfortable talking to people, Must Love Christmas! Over 16 years old 

YOUR ROLE: The mascot team volunteers will work in a group of 4 people per shift. 2 people will act as the handlers, and 2people will be acting as Holly and Jolly taking turns in the mascot costumes to ensure equal opportunity for both being a mascot, and promoting the market. Additional details outlined below: Holly and Jolly Use fun actions to entertain guests and pose for pictures with guests Be creative, and have fun! We ask that your actions are appropriate for all ages, and keep you and the guests safe. Mascot Handlers Act as the voice for the mascots by encouraging people to take photos with them. Share key messages about the Vancouver Christmas Market, and hand out collateral. Help Holly + Jolly navigate pathways and crowds as their vision is limited and ensure guests safety when moving around Holly + Jolly

We're looking for someone to work with us full-time, after school and weekends depending on the right
candidate. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast - paced high volume environment in the food industry.

Duties include but are not limited to: 

·Maintain a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and fellow team members.
· Engage with customers through smiles and greetings, offering product information, providing selling suggestions and active sampling and always giving a genuine thank you.
· Focusing on providing fast and friendly customer service.
· Processing cash register transactions in a prompt and friendly manner.
· Using scale printer machines, ensuring weights and pricing are correct.
· Understanding the importance monitoring product pricing, signage, and placement as well as the use of product shelf tags and shelf signage.
· Keeping a clean, neat and orderly check stand/sales counter and work production areas.
· Preparing panini’s, prepping for panini’s, wrapping, serving gelato, weighing, slicing, and stocking deli department products, rotating them as necessary to ensure product quality and safety.
· Work safely around sharp slicers, tools and hot ovens and burners.
· Displaying goods, following deli department and/or merchandi
sing guidelines.
· Taking customer orders, ensuring orders are completed on time and to the customer's satisfaction.
JOB REQUIREMENTS 
Qualifications: Must have a passion for food and people. 
You enjoy engaging with people and sharing stories about great food. 
Cleanliness is a priority and you're familiar with portion control.
Great communications skills and a positive can-do attitude are a must. Must be able to work flexible days since we are open 7 days a week
