This March Break, Satellite Gallery, an exhibition space shared by four public art galleries - Charles H. Scott (ECUAD), Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery (UBC), the Museum of Anthropology (UBC) and Presentation House Gallery, are running an arts-based teen program called G08.
Students (grades 11 and 12) from any discipline as various as the arts, theater and the sciences are strongly encouraged to apply.
G08
- designed to inspire, engage and excite youth to become immersed in Vancouver's Contemporary art world, to work collaboratively, and to create a public art project with the group. Final project ideas could include creating a flash mob event, a temporary public art piece, or a new work for the Gallery's Seymour storefront window.
- will meet for five days over the 2015 spring break at the centre of downtown Vancouver, above CLUB 560.
- will be led by a high-school art teacher, senior university students, gallery professionals and Vancouver-based artists. It will include a public art tour, artist studio visits, workshops as well as gallery and exhibition tours.
The program is free of charge and can be applied to a student's work experience hours required for graduation.
Submit your application by February 6, 2015 before 6 pm for early consideration. Final deadline is on February 20, 2015 before 6pm.
