ALL students in the province of BC must complete a minimum of 30 hours VOLUNTEER, WORK EXPERIENCE or PAID EMPLOYMENT to Graduate. Work experience includes hands-on work experience (business, government, self-employed, non-profit or volunteer organization), job shadowing a worker, career mentoring with a worker, career simulation activities for occupations where hands-on work experience is not available (such as the Fire Fighters Career Day).

Jer’s Vision is proud to present the second Dare to Stand Out (DTSO): A Canadian Youth Forum and Conversation on Sexually-Transmitted Blood Borne Infection’s (STBBI’s). This national conference invites youth leaders from all over Canada to understand the relationships between STBBI transmission, bullying, and discrimination. Participants will not only walk away being more informed, but will be given the tools to promote public health awareness and action in their schools and communities.

The Basics:
DTSO invites 80 youth to Ottawa for training to become public health ambassadors that will make their schools and communities safer and better places.
It’s FREE! Yes, you read that right, the Forum is free. We are happy to provide travel fare, room and board for youth participants. The age range we’re looking for is 15-18 years old (primary target), and 19-23 (secondary target). The maximum amount of participants that we can have at the forum is 120, of which (80% must be aged 15-18).
Educators and community leaders supporting youth in their community are welcome to come, however we ask that they pay for their own travel and a registration fee of $450 (that includes: room, board, and activities).
