Clara Hughes, Olympic Skater and Cyclist to speak to YOUTH

Unique Lives & Experiences,     Women’s Lecture Series
at the Vancouver for the Performing Arts Theatre on Homer St.

Youth are encouraged to attend  March 6 to hear CLARA HUGHES, the  Canadian Olympic cyclist and speed skater,  and the only person to ever win multiple medals at both the Summer and Winter Olympics.
She was named to the Order of Manitoba and as an Office of the Order of Canada.  She is involved with Right to Play, an athlete-driven international humanitarian organization that uses sports to encourage the development of youth in disadvantaged areas.  She has received numerous awards, trophies and accolades in a short span of time, has a star on the Canadian Walk of Fame and was inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.  She led the Canadian team as they entered the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Hughes also publically discusses her battle with mental depression and continues speaking about this ‘to open up the dialogue’ for other Canadians struggling with mental illness. Clara has had much to deal with, but kept at it.

  Tickets are  $16 (plus facility/box office fee/hst)
